CHARLOTTE & SAM

HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR PARTNER?
We met in Morzine, France where we ended up getting married! I was on a ski season and living in a chalet with 11 people. One of my roommates was Sam’s best friend. Sam of course came to visit his friend and the rest is history!
HOW DID THE PROPOSAL GO DOWN?
After Covid, we returned to England to visit Sam’s family. While on our trip Sam proposed at Primrose Hill, a place where we used to go on dates when we both lived in London.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING?
I went to a couple of different shops. One in London and four in Melbourne. Riva was by far my favourite shop. Kim was so lovely and all her dresses were divine.
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOUR GOWN WAS THE ONE?
I’m a very indecisive person, so choosing was tough. I had narrowed it down to two dresses at Riva. I took lots of photos and actually visualised myself at my wedding in both dresses. After that, I decided on the one.
WHAT WAS YOUR OVERALL WEDDING STYLE AND INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
The wedding style was based around my venue, ‘The Farmhouse’ in Morzine, and the beauty of the French Alps. I worked with an amazing florist, Sonya, who helped me create a mood board from my many Pinterest boards.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING?
It’s really hard to choose just one favourite memory because there were so many special moments. One that stands out is when Sam and I were taking photos in our wedding car up in the mountains. The car was the same model I used to drive when I lived in Morzine, and I was lucky enough to find a local who owned a similar one and let us borrow it. The setting and the car felt incredibly special to me. Another favourite moment was seeing our wedding cake for the first time, baked by my friend Cassie, and cutting into it together with Sam.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING SOUNDTRACK?
Sam and I decided we would make a short list of songs we liked for our aisle song and our walkout song. I chose the aisle song and kept it a secret and he chose the walk out song. We both loved this so much and I would encourage other couples to do the same.

Aisle song - Stay Alive by José González Walk out song - Ca Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand

WHAT ARE YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM FOR OTHER BRIDES?
If you're having an international wedding, be sure to arrive at least three days before the big day to settle in and prepare. And don’t forget to invest in a good quality steamer! :)
