HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR PARTNER?
Cooper and I met when we were 18 years old, back in 2017, through the local football club. Coop had moved off the family farm, in his small country town and came to Wodonga for work/football. I was playing netball there at the time.
HOW DID THE PROPOSAL GO DOWN?
We were lucky enough to get a sunny day in July 2023, so Coop suggested that we go for a walk and picnic along the lake. We had been for a walk with our dog Bonnie, and were just about to eat lunch when Coop got out the ring and asked me to marry him. Coop had been planning it for several months, designing the ring, and was waiting for the perfect time to pop the question.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING?
It was such a fun day. I made the 3 hour trip to Melbourne with my Mum, Mother in Law, and best friend/maid of honour. I'd picked three places to go with a variety of dresses, as I did not really know what I was looking for! I found three places was also the perfect number to see a lot of different styles, without being too tired or overwhelmed with choice (remembering we also had a 3 hour drive home). Riva Bridal was the second place we went to, and it felt so special. I loved being able to have my support people with me, and have the whole studio to ourselves. Kim was so helpful and full of knowledge about her dresses, that it made the process a dream.
HOW DID YOU KNOW YOUR GOWN WAS THE ONE?
There were a number of dresses that were stunning and felt like me, but this particular dress had everything I was looking for. It felt like me (in the most elevated way), it was comfortable and fit the vibe of our wedding. With the addition of the veil and the bow, it just all felt like a complete picture and I knew it was the one.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING STYLE AND INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
RSimple and elegant with a touch of colour! We wanted the day to feel like us. Yellow and blue are certainly my colours, so that's what we went with. We tried to keep things minimal, and not overdo it with decorations. Using platforms like pinterests and Instagram for inspiration, as well as sticking to what felt most like 'us' was certainly how we came up with style for the day.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING?
Oh it's too hard to choose just one! I enjoyed getting our sunset photos, after seeing/hugging everyone, listening to speeches and having our meal. it was so special to sneak off for a few moments with our photographer and just soak it all in. These photos are also some of my favourites, as you can see how much fun we were having and how relaxed we were.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING SOUNDTRACK?
We had Lennon, our singer, sing and play guitar for our ceremony songs. We had a mix of new and older songs. I walked down the aisle to Stargazing - Myles Smith, and we exited to Walking on Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves. Lennon then continued with his acoustic sets, before DJing from around 8:30pm. While it wasn't one of our chosen wedding songs, a favourite moment on the dance floor was when 'One More Time - Daft Punk' came on. We had tambourines for our guests, and the dance floor was a real vibe during this song.
WHAT ARE YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM FOR OTHER BRIDES?
Do it your way! There are so many posts about wedding Dos and Don'ts, and it can be hard to visualise all your choices coming together. Without a planner these can be overwhelming. I found the easiest way to work out what we wanted/needed was to think about if it felt like 'us'
