HOW DID YOU AND YOUR PARTNER MEET?
Some very cheeky friends taking my phone and matching me to Joe on Bumble! One date in a pub in Richmond on a cold June night in 2018, and the rest is history - I think we both knew early on it was something very special, and it’s only gotten more so as time has gone on.store.
HOW DID THE PROPOSAL GO DOWN?
We moved to the Mornington Penisula a few years ago, and since then, we spend most weekend mornings on the beach with our dog, Sloane. Joe convinced me to get up very early on the Saturday of Easter long weekend, and as we were walking, he told me that he had taught Sloane a new trick - he told me to hold the ball and look her in the eye, and crouched down behind her - and then got on one knee and asked me to marry him.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING?
I booked one day on High Street (thinking it would be the start of a long process!), and visited three places - two of which were well known, and one that I had come across in my research (spoiler alert: it’s Riva Bridal!). At the two other places, I didn’t really feel like myself in any of the gowns, I felt more like I was ‘dressing as a bride’ as opposed to feeling like me. But as soon as I walked into Kim’s doors, I loved the fit and construction of every dress - but, well, there was one that just stole my heart!
HOW DID YOU NOW YOUR GOWN WAS THE ONE?
I could see myself marrying Joe in it; I felt like he would be marrying ‘me’ in this gown. It was the only one that made me feel like this, and that, in turn, made me cry!
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING STYLE AND INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
Simple and chic. I am a minimalist at heart, and wanted the energy going into the food, music and love for the day. We went with classic white roses, white candles, with elements of green - we loved our venue and wanted to allow that (and the love we have for each other) be the feature on the day.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENT FROM YOUR WEDDING?
So. Many. But it would have to be exchanging our vows - more than my favourite moment of the wedding, it might be my favourite moment in my life! We wrote our own and didn’t share them with each other, and it was incredible how they similar were.
WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING SOUNDTRACK?
Our beautiful friend, Dani from Logan Entertainment sang us down the aisle to ‘Wild’ by Troye Sivan, which is our song. Dani also sang an acoustic version of ‘Lover’ by Taylor Swift as we signed our documents, and we walked out to ‘Latch’ by Sam Smith. We were introduced into our Reception to ’Sky Fall of Stars’ by Coldplay, which really bought in the party. We had an incredible DJ from post ceremony, and our first dance was to ‘I love you, baby’ by Frank Sinatra.
WHAT ARE YOUR WORDS OF WISDOM TO OTHER BRIDES?
Enjoy! We had such a wonderful time planning our wedding - a special little world you’re creating to celebrate your love - and it really is such a gorgeous process. Stay true to your own wants and style, and don’t look sideways at all - if you do your wedding, youR way, it will be the best day of your life.
